Cannes'da dün açıklandığına göre aksiyon estetikçisi John Woo, "Youth of the Beast"in "remake"ini üstlenmiş. "Day of the Beast" adını taşıyacak film, Woo için 100 yıllık sinema geçmişi olan Japon Nikkatsu-Studio'larına saygı duruşu niteliği de taşıyor. Seijun Suzuki'nin 1963 yapımı "Youth of the Beast" filmi Japon mafya klasiklerinden biri. John Woo'nun ("Mission: Impossible II") ismini "Day of the Beast" olarak "düzelterek" "remake"ini çekeceği filmin yapımcılığını Terence Chang ve Naoki Sato üstlenmişler. "Day of the Beast" karanlık geçmişi olan sıradışı bir adamın Tokyo'da geçen hikayesini anlatıyor. İki gün önce başlayan Cannes Film Festival'inde yer alan özel bölümlerden birisi Quinzaine des réalisateurs. 1969'dan beri resmi programın dışındaki en yenilikçi, orijinal ve dikkat çekici filmlerin tanıtıldığı bölümde, Michel Gondry yeni uzun metraj (bilim kurgu komedisi) filmi The We and The I da dün ilk kez seyirciyle buluştu.
